Weekly Update #2

Hey everyone!   This week’s Genius hour was spent putting my sewing skills to the test! I have been practicing making masks in order to prepare myself to make a quality product. I started off with finding a sewing pattern that I liked and that I would easily be able to use. This was the easy part as there are plenty of free mask patterns out there, so if you were looking to make your own masks, the resources are out there! It’s been years since I’ve used a sewing machine so my first attempt was not perfect as I was still trying to get the hang of it again. By the time I got to the third practice mask, it was looking pretty good.  I have purchased the necessary materials to get me started, such as elastic, thread, toggles, and fabric. I thought I would start with just 3 basic colours, and only about 2 yards of fabric (just in case no one buys them lol). I hope that I am able to raise some money that can go towards providing necessities like shelter and food. In my opinion, it should ultimately be a human right, but unfortunately not everyone sees it that way. Volunteering my time and giving what I can is small step in the right direction.   After a lot of back and forth and bouncing off ideas to friends and family,

Hello everyone! Welcome to my Genius Hour blog. My name is Rajeny Sahota and I am currently a Teacher Candidate at Brock University!  Here, you can follow along my progress in working towards achieving my end goal for this project. My Genius Hour question that I will be focusing on for the next several week is, how can I use my time and skills to help the vulnerable populations in my local community?   I think when we get busy with our own lives, we can sometimes lose sight of how others may be impacted by an unprecedented situation such as a global pandemic. Although I have been looking at the positives that have come out of living through COVID-19 these past months, it is also important to take the time to consider not everyone has the means to think so positively.  My goal is to come up with products that people would be willing to purchase for a good cause. Any profits made from these products will go directly to the organizations I have chosen that could greatly benefit from extra
